Week of 9/4 - 9/8

We've had a great second week in first grade, learning one- and two-vowel rules in Language, along with the C/K rule, diacritical vowel markings, long vowel sounds, possessive phases, and phonics special sounds.  In Bible, we began the Creation Series.  In Math this week, we've learned to identify greater number, concept of adding doubles, place value concepts, story problems, and ordinal numbers.  In American History, we discussed freedom, liberty, and what it means to be a patriot.

Please bring in a family photo to place with your child's photo on our
"We are Family" board.

On Tuesday, September 5, we have our first math test.  Then speed drills the rest of the week.  Also, in Language/Phonics we'll have our first test on Wednesday, September 6, on letters and sounds.

There is no school on Monday,
September 4 -- Labor Day!
